DIY - WHIPPED SHEA BUTTER!

Shea butter is a natural hair conditioner and moisturizer. It can be found largely in west africa and in this part of the world it's been used as hair and body cream, its also therapeutic.

Some of the uses of Shea butter

 - it provides moisture for dry scalp.
- It's a good sealant ( helps lock and retain moisture)
- Helps product hair from damages caused by sunlight.
- Softens hair.

Shea butter in it's natural state can be annoying, because it's so firm and we mostly find it hard to distribute evenly. In today's post, am going to be sharing how to whip your Shea butter, which makes it fluffy and easier to apply..

   Prep time.           : 20mins
   Amount spent. : 200 naira

                                               Things needed
 -.  Shea butter
 -.  carriers ( essential oils)
-. hand mixer
-. Bowl
-. container

                                    DIRECTIONS

Scoop your natural butter in a bowl, add your oils( I used coconut, almond and olive extra virgin oil) generously.
Set your hand mixer to fast and mix for about 10 mins( depending on the quantity of your Shea butter).

Mix till.it becomes fluffy( ice cream like), not liquid, not solid..After whipping, your Shea butter becomes twice the original size,so, make sure you have a container that's big enough at hand.

Scoop, into your container with a spoon and store in a cool dry place.. Do not refrigerate.

Whipped Shea butter, if properly stored could use up to a year!

NB= you can mix some more if you think it isn't fluffy enough. I would have loved to mix so more but PHCN had to show themselves..
Your Shea butter annoys you because it's lumpy, looks local or you are just the type that likes to "tush up" or loves your things looking fancy? Instead of spending a fortune to get this( got mine for 1300) why not try DIY...

DIY - COCONUT OIL

Coconut oil is one of the most popular oils among natural heads, first because its can be used as a sealant and also because it helps  moisturize the hair....Coconut oil is gotten from coconut(obviously).
A small jar is sold for 1500 naira and trust me its worth every coin..Am going to be sharing how to make your own coconut oil, right there at home, in your kitchen....

                                  USES OF COCONUT OIL

According to experts, coconut oil is used in every beauty and hair products because its antibacterial and anti fungal..Its also a good moisturiser and it penetrates the hair better than other oils..it also prevents hair loss and adds shine to your hair....

PREP TIME:                                    20 MINUTES

TOTAL TIME                                          24 HRS

                                                             INGREDIENTS

  •                                                  4 BIG COCONUT
  •                                                  A CUP FULL OF WATER

                                                 DIRECTIONS

STEP 1; break the coconut and remove from the shell and cut into tiny pieces . Pour in your blender and add enough water so that the blender's blade can go through them easily.

STEP 2 ; scoop in a bowl and squeeze out the juice using a sieve and then cover overnight

STEP 3: the next morning, the juice would have some particles floating on top of it, scoop these particles or better still sieve your juice again and transfer the particles left in the sieve into a 'not so important' fry pan and fry, after frying  for about a minute, the oil begins to separate itself from the particles. turn off the burner and pour in a container and your coconut oil is ready for use..

so, there you have it, instead of spending a fortune on a store-bought coconut oil why not DIY....AND the smell is divine not like our dear shea butter..

PROTECTIVE HAIRSTYLE...

Nice, Hunh? I know right... people kept admiring and asking questions...
Some of the questions asked are going to be answered in this post..
Let's get started....
1. How did you get the tip of your attachment to stick?
Ans: The reality is our almighty expression attachment can not be used for this style because it's inflammable. It burns, alright but it just wouldn't stick. So, to get your tips to stick, its best to use flammable attachments, wools..
Find pics of the one I used below
2. How come your braids are even, asin the strands are even from the root to the tip?
Ans: Tell your stylist not to pick your attachment...
3. How do you plan to take care of natural hair, when you are hiding them in braids?
Ans: I plan on keeping it moisturized and clean with the help of my spritz bottle and cotton buds..
4: Any regime before you braided?
Ans: the night before, I shampooed, rinsed out with warm water, then I co-wash then rinsed with cold water.then I L.O.C and wore my satin bonnet overnight.
5. Now that you are wearing braids, can you take a break from the bonnet?

Ans: You should never take a break from the bonnet. I still sleep with mine on..

I hope you have learnt something..... Something not clear, addition, subtraction, thoughts? See you in the comment section...
